It’s share the deal day! I’m proud to say I was trained by THE Autumn Henning several years ago, and she has been a great professional mentor as I have taken this path in tethered oral tissues! Thanks Chrysalis Orofacial!

Tell me you are a feeding therapist without telling me you are a feeding therapist!

If your baby is having trouble with transitioning from breast feeding to cup or straw (because of bottle refusal!), we can work on it! Sign up for an evaluation at irbypsychservices.net/waitlists. I keep openings for infants and both Tupelo and Southaven!

One of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping infants and their feeding skills as well of people of all ages with myofunctional skills…to THRIVE!

Dr. Diana Batoon provides an overview of young patients with breathing issues. She then goes over different strategies and treatment plans we can offer to these patients with possible sleep-related breathing disorders.

Yes!

During sleep, the tongue must rest on the palate to keep the airway open. When a child has an unrevised tongue tie, the tongue can fall back into their throat and restrict air supply.
In addition, during infancy and childhood, the tongue normally acts as a natural palate expander. The palate is not just the roof of the mouth, it’s also the floor of the nasal cavity. When the tongue pushes against the palate during sleep, it widens it, so that the nasal cavity becomes larger and less prone to blockage.

When a child has a high narrow palate resulting from a life-long tongue tie or due to a developmental condition, the nose becomes easily blocked. The child breathes through his mouth and inflames his throat, tonsils, and adenoids. They swell and narrow the airway. Then the tongue blocks it a little more, and Boom! The child cannot get enough air to sleep well.
