At Hernando Psychiatry, we stand with survivors of abuse.

Recent events have brought deep pain to many in our community. Let it be known: we support those who have been silenced, ignored, or failed by the systems meant to protect them. We see you. We believe you. Your story matters. Your healing matters.

Ethan Smitherman PMHNP-BC

Ethan is the founder and owner of Hernando Psychiatry and a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Prior to his nursing career, Ethan served in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that shaped his dedication to service and care. He began his nursing journey in 2015 as a labor and delivery nurse and later earned his Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He went on to complete his Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in psychiatry and mental health, at Frontier Nursing University.

Ethan provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients of all ages, from children to geriatric. His passion lies in helping individuals improve their mental well-being and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. Outside of his professional life, Ethan is a devoted husband and father of three, with a love for spending time outdoors.
