Matthew Scott Crisman

Matthew Scott Crisman, affectionately known as Matt, was born on July 6, 1966, in Jacksonville, NC at Camp Lejeune and sadly passed away on February 11, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was a man of many talents and pursuits, having served in the Army immediately after high school before embarking on a diverse career that included being a welder, iron worker, and carpenter. Loved ones often reflected on his private nature, yet his remarkable abilities were always a source of admiration, layered with humor and surprises at every turn.

Matt was a man who could easily transition from hard work to heartfelt laughter, weaving humor into every facet of his life. His daughter Brandi recalls how he had an extraordinary knack for making people laugh until they could hardly breathe, often turning significant moments into light-hearted, funny songs. Despite being a hard individual to understand at times, his love was unconditional and unwavering, leaving a profound impact on those around him.

His time in the intensive care unit was marked by warmth and humor, as he continued to share his spirit even during difficult days. Nurses often shared their experiences about him, noting the preciousness of his character and the joy he brought even whilst facing illness. Memories of conversations like his reflections on gratitude and humorous anecdotes about trying to punch a nurse serve to highlight the unique charm that was Matt.

In his final days, he was not alone; he spent his last moments surrounded by family who cherished him deeply. His daughter Brandi, along with his grandchildren Kallie and Haydn "Bubba" Altman, were by his side. As they navigated the sudden news of his sickness, they found solace in his enduring love, reuniting after years apart and mending bonds that were once strained. His legacy continues through his loved ones, as Bubba poignantly affirms, "my mama's daddy is with Jesus," a phrase suggesting comfort and connection beyond the earthly realm.

When his daughter asked before he passed "do you have a bucket list"? He replied "just more time", she then asked "there's nothing you'd like to do you haven't?" He nodded "no". And she told him "you are such a lucky man!" I pray he was being honest.

Matt is survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Crisman; his daughter Brandi Crisman of Senatobia, MS; son-in-law Lee Altman; granddaughter Kallie Altman; grandson Haydn "Bubba" Altman; and sister Tracy Huffman. Those who knew him are left with countless stories and memories that will forever embody the essence of his delightful spirit. His presence will be missed, but the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the character he embodied will remain etched in the hearts of his family and friends for years to come.
