Wearing Contacts Too Long
If you wear contact lenses, it’s likely you’ve occasionally been guilty of wearing contacts too long. Whether it happens because your workday rolls into a long night out, you don’t have a spare pair, or you just plain forget you’re wearing them in the first place – it’s bound to happen.

Presbyopia, Bifocals, and Progressives
Presbyopia is farsightedness caused by the increasing rigidity of the lens in the eye as we age.
It affects nearly everyone older than 65, and for the 42 percent of Americans who are already nearsighted, this creates a complication. People who previously had 20/20 vision can just grab a pair of reading glasses to combat presbyopia, but nearsighted people will need to either pair reading glasses with contact lenses for their nearsightedness or else upgrade their single-prescription glasses to bifocals, trifocals, or progressives.

Are cheap sunglasses bad for your eyes?
It's almost summer, and time to start stocking up on the universal sunny-day accessory: sunglasses.
It might be tempting to grab a pair from your nearest dollar store and hit the beach. But if you do that, you probably won't be doing yourself — or your vision — any favors.
When you're outside in the sun without sunglasses, your eyes instinctively squint and your pupils constrict to limit the amount of light that can get in. When you put on a pair of tinted lenses, you fool your eyes into dilating, or staying more open. That lets a greater amount of UV light in, light that can ultimately be very damaging if the lenses do not have a built-in UV filter.

November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month
The month of November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month. Diabetes has become so common in the United States that, according to the CDC’s statistical report on the disease, 9.3% of the population of the United States has the disease; this number translates to 29.1 million people.
According to Prevent Blindness America, diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness in adults—and all people with diabetes are at risk for vision loss and blindness from diabetic eye disease. African Americans, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Hispanics, Latinos, and older adults with diabetes are especially at higher risk.

See if any of these common problems sound familiar. And always check with a doctor if your symptoms are really bad or don’t clear up within a few days.
