On February 6, 2026, we observed World Cancer Day, an important reminder of the global impact of cancer and the progress we’re making every day.
According to the American Cancer Society’s 2026 Cancer Statistics, approximately 2,114,850 new cancer diagnoses are projected in the United States this year alone, that’s about 5,800 new cases every day and 626,140 deaths from cancer are expected in 2026. Despite this burden, there is positive news: the five-year relative survival rate for all cancers combined has reached 70% for people diagnosed between 2015 and 2021, reflecting decades of progress in treatment and care.
Globally, nearly 20 million new cancer cases were diagnosed in 2025, and health experts warn that without continued action, the annual number could climb further in the coming decades. Research shows that about 4 in 10 cancer cases worldwide are linked to preventable risk factors from to***co use to poor diet and environmental exposure, highlighting the enormous potential of prevention and early detection strategies.
Prevention, early detection, and access to the right treatments are critical to improving outcomes and saving lives. World Cancer Day is a chance to reaffirm our commitment to awareness, innovation, and collective action.
✨ Hope continues to grow: every year, breakthroughs in research, screening, and therapies bring us closer to better survival, better care, and eventually a cure.
