❄️ Stay Cozy, Stay Healthy! ❄️
Brrr! It is officially “extra blanket” weather today. While we’re all bundling up, did you know that your body has its own built-in heating system?
🧠 Fun Fact: Ever wonder why we get goosebumps when we’re cold? It’s actually a “hand-me-down” reflex from our ancestors! The tiny muscles at the base of your hair follicles contract to make the hair stand up, which was meant to trap a layer of air against the skin for insulation. Since we don’t have thick fur anymore, it just looks like little bumps—but your body is still trying its best to keep you warm!
Stay Warm Today:
• Layer Up: Remember the “Rule of Three”—a base layer to wick moisture, a middle layer to insulate, and an outer layer to block the wind.
• Keep the Kids Extra Toasty: Children lose body heat faster than adults. A good rule of thumb is to dress them in one more layer than what you’re wearing to stay comfortable.
• Warm from the Inside Out: It’s a great day for some soup or caffeine-free herbal tea to keep those core temperatures up!
