📞Important Update for Our Patients📞

To better serve our patients and community, we’re upgrading to a new phone system designed to make it easier for you to reach our team and receive timely support.

As we make this transition, you might notice small hiccups or delays. Please be patient as we work through them.

For non-urgent requests (appointment requests, prescription refills, rescheduling appointments, or general questions to our staff), we invite you to use the patient portal, which remains the quickest and most convenient way to connect with us.

This transition starts tomorrow November 20th.

Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your care. 🌸

Today and every day, we’re grateful for the brave men and women who have served our country with courage and dedication. Your sacrifices protect the freedoms we enjoy, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We’re especially proud to have veterans as part of our Catawba Women's Center family. Their strength, compassion, and commitment to caring for others continue to inspire us daily — both in and out of the office.

Pictured below are Dr. Setzer and our clinical manager, Kym.

Dr. Setzer served 8 years of active duty and 12 years combined with the reserves. She was a Major and served in the Army.

Kym served 6 years of active duty as a medic. She was a sergeant and served in the Army.

To all veterans — we honor you, we thank you, and we celebrate you today. ❤️💙

What an un-boo-lievable turnout for this year’s Halloween Costume Contest! 🕸️🕷️

The staff all brought the spooky, the silly, and the downright creative — it was a close competition!

But after some frightfully fun deliberation…

👑 This year’s winner for the overall favorite is Mrs. Doubtfire!
👑 This year’s winner for the most creative is Dumpster Fires & Firefighters!

✨ Birth Control 101: Understanding Your Options ✨

Choosing the right birth control is a personal decision — and knowing your options helps you make the best choice for your body and lifestyle. 💕

Whether you’re looking to prevent pregnancy, regulate your cycle, or manage conditions like PCOS or endometriosis, our providers are here to help you find the method that fits your body and your lifestyle. 💕

Here’s a quick overview of the main types:

🔹 Hormonal Methods
Pill – taken daily to prevent ovulation.
Patch – worn on the skin and changed weekly.
Vaginal Ring – inserted monthly for continuous protection.
Shot (Depo-Provera) – given every 3 months.
Implant (Nexplanon) – a small rod placed in the arm that lasts up to 3 years.

🔹 Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)
Hormonal IUDs (Mirena, Kyleena, etc.) – last 3–8 years and can lighten periods.
Copper IUD (Paragard) – hormone-free, effective for up to 10 years.

🔹 Barrier Methods
Condoms (male and female) – protect against pregnancy and STIs.

🔹 Permanent Options
Tubal Ligation – surgical option for those who are sure they don’t want future pregnancies.
Vasectomy – a permanent option for male partners.

🔹 Other Methods
Fertility Awareness – tracking ovulation and cycle patterns.

Every method has its own benefits, side effects, and effectiveness. Our team is here to help you find the one that’s right for you. 🌸

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

At Catawba Women's Center, we’re joining the fight against breast cancer by encouraging every woman to take charge of her health. 💕

Early detection saves lives — schedule your annual mammogram, perform regular self-breast exams, and talk with your provider about your individual risk factors.

Together, we can raise awareness, support those who are fighting, and honor the survivors and loved ones we’ve lost. 💗

Let’s wear pink this month and stand united in the fight against breast cancer!

📣 September is National Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month & National Ovarian Cancer Month 💚💙

Gynecologic cancers include cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Together, they impact thousands of women and people with female reproductive organs every year.

🔹 Gynecologic Cancers

Nearly 100,000 women are diagnosed each year in the U.S.

Over 30,000 die annually from these cancers.

🔹 Ovarian Cancer

Often called the “silent killer” because symptoms can be vague and easily overlooked.

1 in 78 women will develop ovarian cancer in their lifetime.

When detected early, the 5-year survival rate is over 90%—but only about 20% of cases are found early.

💡 Know the signs: bloating, pelvic/abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and urinary urgency or frequency.

💚 Spread awareness.
💙 Support research.
💚 Encourage regular check-ups and early detection.

🌸 September is PCOS Awareness Month 🌸

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) affects 1 in 10 women of reproductive age—that’s about 5 million women in the U.S. alone. Despite being one of the most common hormonal conditions, up to 70% of cases remain undiagnosed.

PCOS can impact menstrual cycles, fertility, weight, skin, and overall health, but with early diagnosis and proper care, symptoms can be managed. 💜

👉 Common symptoms include:
✔️ Irregular or missed periods
✔️ Excess hair growth or acne
✔️ Weight changes
✔️ Difficulty getting pregnant

Remember—you are not alone. Our team is here to provide support, diagnosis, and treatment options.
