Last Friday, November 14, Catawba Valley Foot & Ankle celebrated National Family Pajama Day in the coziest way! The team showed up in their favorite pajamas, enjoyed sweet treats, and warmed up with a festive Hot Chocolate Bar.

This annual holiday encourages everyone to relax, slow down, and spend time together — and for our practice, that means continuing to provide great patient care in comfort and style.

Earlier this week, Catawba Valley Family Medicine – Conover celebrated their one-year anniversary! Staff came together for steaks and sides and a warm reflection on all they have accomplished.

Tim Gilbert, Office Manager for the practice, said, "It was a great time to build a stronger bond within our team and remind ourselves of the challenges we overcame this past year and the success that we look forward to in the future."

CVFM-Conover will have building repairs beginning Monday (11/17) and are scheduled to be completed by end of day on Tuesday (11/18). As a result, the main parking lot beside the building (marked in red) will be closed these two days and set to re-open by start of day on Wednesday (11/19).

Patients will have access to public parking in front of the clinic on 1st Street as well as public parking in the rear on NW Alleyway. Any patients parking in the rear will be required to access the front entrance via NW Alleyway and 1st Ave N.

Any patients needing assistance or directions can call the clinic at 828-732-7450 and staff will be happy to assist as needed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Last week, our CVMG practices got their spook on with Halloween costume parties! Staff at each practice chose their own unique themes, including Catawba Valley Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine going as the Wizard of Oz characters, CVFM - Northeast Hickory as McCormick spices and seasonings, and Catawba Valley Family Care as cowboys!

Halloween spirit was alive and well across our Family and Specialty Care clinics! From creative costumes to friendly pumpkin decorating contests, our teams went all out to make the day festive and fun.

CVMG is carving out a good time with pumpkin decorating! Four Catawba Valley Family Medicine practices – Sherrills Ford, Mountain View, Newton, and West Mountain View – recently held pumpkin decorating contests where staff could submit their spooktacular creations to be voted on by patients!

Gastroenterology Associates of Catawba Valley welcomes Sheri Combs, RN, MSN, FNP-C!

Sheri Combs is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, licensed to practice in North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she laid the foundation for a rewarding career.

Over the next decade, she worked as a Registered Nurse, specializing in the care of adult surgical patients. During this time, Sheri demonstrated leadership and dedication, serving as a Delegate and holding leadership positions with the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA). Driven to expand her expertise, Sheri returned to school to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration, graduating with honors from Winston-Salem State University in 2008. She is Board-Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and remains an active member of both the North Carolina Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Since 2010, Sheri has been providing compassionate, patient-centered care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric surgical patients at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Her extensive experience and commitment to excellence in care make her a trusted and valued healthcare provider in her community.

Catawba Valley Neurology is celebrating Diwali! Diwali is the annual Hindu festival that dates back to at least the seventh century and celebrates the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. To celebrate, Dr. Palikh and his staff brought colorful decorations and flameless candles to bring extra light and love to our patients' day!

Diwali celebrations traditionally last for five days, and the festival begins between mid-September and mid-November according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The main day of celebration falls on the darkest night of the seventh Hindu lunar month. This year, the main day of Diwali took place on October 20th.
