Some people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a type of depression that comes and goes with the seasons, often starting in fall or winter when there is less sunlight. 🌥️💛

SAD can affect mood, energy, sleep, and daily functioning, but there are ways to boost your wellbeing. Light therapy, exercise, healthy routines, and connecting with others can all help lift your spirits. ☀️🚶‍♀️💬

If you or a loved one are struggling, you are not alone. Resources and support are available through the Community Crisis Center.

12/03/2025

We were honored to join Governor Kathy Hochul in Suffolk County at American Legion Post 360 in Huntington for the signing of NYS Assemblyman Steve Stern’s legislation to protect our Veterans from scammers.

This critical law addresses pension poaching and benefit theft, issues that have long impacted the veteran community. The legislation:

✅ Protects veterans from fraud and unaccredited representatives

✅ Establishes civil penalties of up to $10,000 for violations

✅ Creates a Class A misdemeanor for unaccredited representation

✅ Establishes a Veterans’ Services Fund — funded by collected penalties — to provide grants to certified organizations that assist veterans with claims and benefits.

We were proud to stand alongside Veterans, NYS Senate and Assembly members, Suffolk County Legislators, Town of Huntington officials, Suffolk County Veteran Services, and veteran provider organizations in support of this important step forward.

Together, we’re ensuring those who served receive the benefits they earned — without fear of exploitation.

[Legislator Rebecca Sanin, Suffolk County Legislator Jason A. Richberg , Town of Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth , Assemblyman Keith Brown]
