My son’s birthday landed at the end of a very full week for us. Messy rooms, laundry piles, lots of unfinished tasks needing attention.

When my OCD was active, it would have sent me into a “everything needs to be perfect!” spiral. 😖 Stealing my focus from just enjoying the day.

Mental health, for me, has looked less like “having it all together” and more like having the freedom to let things go! So, I closed the bedroom doors, shoved the clutter in the laundry room and called it good for his little party. And honestly, what a better gift for my kid to have a mom that is relaxed and happy on his birthday? He won’t remember if the house was perfect on his special day, but he will remember how it felt in his home.
