Marie Williams

Marie Louise Williams, 66, of High Point, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home.

Born October 17, 1959, in Subic Bay, Philippines, to the late Rex Moody Williams and the late Margaret Hughson Williams.

Our mother and sister Marie loved her God and his magnificent Creation. She took every opportunity to work in her garden, tend to her trees, and mow the grass. God’s creative spirit flowed through her hands in her passion for crafting and crocheting. Most recently she shared her love by creating acrylic hearts for women experiencing pregnancy loss and designed a crocheted barnyard and farm animals for her oncologist and his children. Marie’s passion for missions led her to serve on several medical mission trips. Mostly recently her passion has centered on highlighting and supporting the work of NC Baptist Men and Disaster Relief.

As a single mother, Marie went above and beyond, being present at field trips and ball games, even after working a 24 hour shift. Lack of sleep could never stop her from being fully engaged in and supportive of anything and everything Maggie-related. Professionally Marie was a mentor and coach to so many throughout her 43 years of nursing and midwifery. Many have shared how her insight and encouragement spurred them on to achieve their goals and expand their horizons. Her biggest professional honor was being presented with the Legacy of Shiphrah Midwife Award at Cone Health and being honored for her loving care for so many families.

Once she began this journey called cancer, Marie’s coaching and encouragement shifted more directly to questions of faith and eternity. With every doctor visit, radiation treatment, or even a trip to the store, she seized every opportunity to speak the name of her Savior Jesus and direct people to His saving grace. Nothing would bless her more than knowing her story encouraged someone to consider Jesus. If you had the privilege of interacting with Marie in the last 8 months since she began this journey with “Kevin”, you would have heard her give honor and glory to Jesus. Would you consider the source of Marie’s hope and peace? Would you give Jesus a try?

Marie was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. She was a Registered Nurse midwife with Cone Health Care.

Survived by her daughter, Maggie Williams, brother, Raymond Williams and wife Tammy, and sisters, Jeanne Oweis and husband Mutaz, Deborah Rodenhizer, and Edie Williams.

Memorial Service will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Loy officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to New Life Family Outreach; www.https://www.newlifehighpoint.org/ or 416 Gatewood Avenue, High Point, NC 27262 or to NC Baptist Men on a Mission; https://baptistsonmission.org/.

James Willie McInnis

It is with deep sorrow we share that on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, James Willie McInnis departed his earthly vessel at 83 years of age.

He was a resident of High Point, North Carolina for many years, coming to the city at ayoung age from Maxton, North Carolina where he was born to Evans and Beatrice McInnis.

James was a mover and a shaker. At Guilford Veneer, he trained many people in the art processing and grading veneer. At Interforrest Incorported from where he retired, he perfected the art of international sales of veneer. After retirement, he continued to keep it moving by working at Enterprise Rental Cars and bargaining and procuring items to be resold at the flea market in Rockingham, North Carolina. All of the above offered him the opportunity to do what he loved: meet and talk to people from all walks of life.

James is survived by a host of family and friends notably his life companion, Sylvia McInnis of High Point, North Carolina; daughter, Kelsie McInnis Dockery, of High Point, North Carolina; granddaughter, Tremaine McInnis of Charlotte, North Carolina; great- granddaughter, Raven Roberson, of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-grandson, Isaiah McInnis, of Greensboro, North Carolina; brothers Thomas (Bessie) McInnis; Earl (Barbara) McInnis; Thelmoth (Roberta) McInnis, all of High Point, North Carolina; Sisters Minnie Lou Reed of Baltimore, Maryland; Lizzie (Earl) Braswell of High Point, North Carolina; and Flora McInnis, of Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. William Robert Steele II

Dr. William Robert Steele II, 62, of High Point, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville.

Born April 16, 1963, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Steele and the late Janice Marie Driskill. On August 24, 1985, in Wichita Falls, he married his beloved wife, Jennifer Joy Hester Steele, and together they shared 40 years of marriage, ministry, and unwavering devotion to the Lord.

Dr. Steele lived a life marked by integrity, wisdom, loyalty, and a joyful sense of humor. He was known for his quick wit, his well‑timed pranks, and the laughter he brought into every room. Beneath the humor was a deep well of faith and character. He carried a humble confidence—never seeking attention, yet always steady, capable, and courageous. He was risk‑comfortable in the best way: willing to step into the unknown, to follow God’s leading even when the path was uncertain, and to embrace new challenges with a spirit of boldness. An adventure seeker at heart, he approached life with curiosity, joy, and a readiness to say yes to whatever God placed before him.

He was a loyal friend, a steady encourager, and a man whose counsel was sought because it was always grounded in Scripture and grace. He was the kind of friend who showed up faithfully and wholeheartedly, whose integrity made him trustworthy, whose wisdom made him dependable, and whose humor made him unforgettable. God gave him a unique calling to support and strengthen pastors. He understood the weight of ministry and walked beside pastors with prayer, discernment, and compassion. Many would say he was a pastor to pastors—an anchor of encouragement and a safe place to rest.

As a husband, he loved Jennifer with a devotion that reflected Christ’s love for the church. Their marriage was a testimony of partnership, laughter, adventure, and shared faith. He cherished her deeply and honored her in every season of life. To his children, he was a wise and gentle guide. He taught them how to walk with integrity, how to work hard, how to laugh freely, how to take courageous steps of faith, and how to trust God in all things. His example will continue to shape their lives and their faith.

Being “Poppy” to his fifteen grandchildren was one of his greatest earthly joys. He delighted in each one—Wyatt, Sterling, Briggs, Townsend, Annalise, Maverick, Ryker, Stella, Lydia, Annika, Tavish, Anders, Everett, Hayes, and Josie—bringing laughter, stories, and a touch of mischief to every moment. His legacy of joy and faith will live on in their hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Steele; his son, Andrew Steele and wife Taylor of Raleigh; his daughters, Sarah Moody and husband Paul of Coronado, CA, Rebecca Bjorlie and husband Thomas of Morganton, and Hannah Bell and husband Benjamin of Greensboro; his fifteen grandchildren; his brother, Charles Alan Steele and wife Staci of Pecos, TX; and his sister, Julia Ann Clark and husband Terry of Tampa, FL.

Celebration of Life service will be 11:30 AM Saturday, March 14, 2026, in the sanctuary of Green Street Baptist Church; 303 Rotary Drive, High Point; with Dr. Darryl Craft and Rev. Rob Decker officiating.

The casket will be open for viewing from 10:00-11:15AM prior to the service.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Energize Ministries; https://energize.breezechms.com/give/online or to mail: c/o 4419-A Wallburg Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

Our Family Business

Larry C. Wright opened Wright Cremation & Funeral Service in December 2015 with a desire to help High Point families at one of the hardest times in their life. His honest service and commitment to excellence have served local families well for nearly forty years. Larry's goal in establishing Wright Cremation & Funeral Service is to bring local, affordable and “back to the basics” funeral service to the community. Corporate non-local funeral homes in High Point and surrounding areas have lost their way, providing unnecessary products and services at astronomical prices. This is not the meaning of service and in most cases, not in the best interest of a grieving family. Honoring your loved one with a dignified funeral or memorial service can be achieved at an affordable price at Wright.

On May 1, 2018, Larry C, Wright announced the addition of a second location to be built on five acres in Archdale, NC. Located at 3200 Archdale Road at the corner of Playground Road, the location will have an arrangement office, visitation room, preparation facilities, and a chapel to accommodate 175 guests. Ground breaking will be in fall 2018.

Along with his son, Bradley E. Wright, they will guide you through the many service options available. Wright Cremation & Funeral service is truly a locally family owned and operated funeral service firm.
