Folate & Folic Acid: Know What’s in Your Food

- Folate is a B vitamin that helps your body make healthy new cells—found in leafy greens, beans, nuts, and more.

- Folic acid is the fortified form added to breads, pastas, flour, and cereals.

- Daily Value = 400 mcg for most adults.

- Check the label: folate is shown as mcg DFE + %DV, with folic acid listed in parentheses if added.

Happy Purim, to all those celebrating!

: Purim is largely a celebratory festival. Observances can include participating in a meal called a seudat (or se’udah), exchanging gifts, giving to charity, and participating in public readings from the book of Esther. Some communities host a carnival.

As children grow into early childhood, their world will begin to open up. They will become more independent and begin to focus more on adults and children outside of the family. They will want to explore and ask about the things around them even more. Their interactions with family and those around them will help to shape their personality and their own ways of thinking and moving. Here is a positive parenting quick tip to help you support your preschooler during this time:

So many families are dealing with colds right now! Most kids with a cold will recover on their own with some extra rest and fluids and do not need to be seen by a doctor. But some kids might need to be seen by their pediatrician. Here’s when to call your pediatrician if your child has a cold. And remember, babies 3 months and younger with cold symptoms should always be seen right away by their pediatrician.

Cooking is a joy, but making every meal from scratch can get tedious, not to mention time-consuming. And that’s where big-batch cooking comes in. We’ve created a list of plant-based recipes that are well-suited for families (and leftovers).

To do this, we looked through our Meatless Monday recipe database to find dishes that don’t require a lot of preparation, are easy to scale up, and are hearty, nutritious, and filling.

From Moroccan split pea soup and roasted chimichurri vegetables to Thai pumpkin curry and green tea pesto pasta the options for bulk cooking are only limited by your imagination — and maybe the size of your stock pot.
