Make sure you are prepared for the bitter, cold weather the next few days will bring.

When temperatures drop sharply, a few simple steps can make a big difference in keeping you and your family safe and healthy:

- Layer up with warm, dry clothing. Cover your head, hands, and face to prevent heat loss. Limit time outdoors when possible. Frostbite can develop quickly in extreme cold.
- Stay dry—wet clothing chills the body fast. Change out of damp clothes right away.
- Check on neighbors, especially older adults, young children, and anyone without reliable heat.
- Protect your pets by bringing them indoors and limiting outdoor time.
- Heat your home safely. Never use ovens or grills for heat, and keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything flammable.
- Stay hydrated. Cold weather can be dehydrating even when you don’t feel thirsty.
- Know the signs of hypothermia—shivering, confusion, slurred speech—and seek help immediately if they appear.

Today, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we pause to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of service, justice, and compassion. His belief that “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve” continues to inspire.

As we care for our neighbors, we’re reminded that health, dignity, and opportunity are rights every person deserves.

💙 Today and every day, we commit to building a healthier, more equitable community—together.

Do you have a new plan for a healthy new year??

Today is the perfect moment to reset your routine and build habits that support your long‑term well‑being. You don’t need an overhaul—just a clear, simple plan you can stick with day by day.

- Pick one nutrition goal you can maintain, like adding a veggie to every meal
- Move with intention—a daily walk, stretch break, or quick workout counts
- Stay hydrated to boost energy and focus
- Protect your sleep by setting a consistent bedtime
- Prioritize mental balance with a few minutes of quiet, gratitude, or deep breathing

Small steps create big momentum. Let this be the year you build a healthier rhythm that truly works for you.
