Sprain Doesn’t Mean Stop. It Means Get Smart.

Ankle tweak? Knee sprain? Pulled something mid-game?

Sprains are one of the most common sports injuries—but the difference between a quick recovery and a lingering issue comes down to how you treat it early.

At Fortitude Performance PT, we don’t just tell you to “rest and wait.” We help you heal faster and come back stronger.

✅ Shockwave Therapy
Stimulates blood flow + accelerates tissue healing at the source
→ Great for stubborn sprains that aren’t improving

✅ Targeted Mobility + Stretching
Restores range of motion and prevents compensation patterns
→ Keeps small injuries from turning into bigger ones

✅ Strength + Stability Work
Rebuilds the joint so you don’t re-injure it next game

🚫 Ignoring a sprain or “playing through it” often leads to chronic instability, repeat injuries, or time off later.

✔️ The goal isn’t just pain relief
✔️ It’s getting you back to your sport confident, strong, and fully recovered

If something feels off—don’t wait. Get back in the game faster.

Heel pain in growing athletes? It may be Sever’s Disease.

Sever’s Disease is one of the most common causes of heel pain in active kids and teens. It typically occurs during growth spurts when the heel growth plate becomes irritated from repetitive stress like running and jumping.

Common signs include:
• Heel pain during or after sports
• Limping or walking on toes
• Tenderness at the back of the heel
• Pain with squeezing the heel

At Fortitude PT, we combine physical therapy and activity modification with advanced treatments like shockwave therapy to help speed recovery.

Shockwave therapy stimulates blood flow, reduces pain, and helps the irritated tissue heal more efficiently—getting young athletes back to the sports they love sooner.

If your child is dealing with persistent heel pain, don’t ignore it. Early treatment can make a big difference.

Arm Care Spotlight: Scraping & Shockwave for Pitching Elbows

During baseball season, athletes put repetitive stress on the elbow — especially along the flexor tendon and UCL area. Two recovery tools Fortitude PT uses in arm care programs are soft tissue scraping (IASTM) and shockwave therapy.

Scraping helps break up tissue adhesions, improve blood flow, and reduce tightness in the forearm muscles that protect the elbow.

Shockwave therapy can stimulate healing in irritated tendons, reduce pain, and support tissue recovery.

Healthy arms = consistent performance all season long. 💪⚾

🌟Movement Monday🌟 Do you have neck pain or a constant ache between your shoulder blades from staring at your phone or computer all day? 📱💻
Poor posture can lead to tight necks, rounded shoulders, and constant discomfort.

Try these 2 simple exercises to reset your posture and relieve neck strain and upper back pain:
👉 Prone cervical retraction – strengthens deep neck muscles and combats forward head posture
👉 Scapular retraction lift-off – activates upper-back muscles to pull shoulders back where they belong

Do these consistently and your neck (and posture) will thank you.
Small daily habits = big long-term relief.
Move better. Stay Strong. Train with Fortitude. 💪

🌟Movement Monday🌟

Hip mobility/Glute Activation
Lateral Hip Mobilization - Creates space in the hip joint and may reduce one-sided anterior hip pinching during deep squat positions. Perform for 1-2 minutes per side.

Glute Activation - Improves hip stability and can help restore glute engagement when one side isn’t firing. Perform both exercises for 8-10 reps each with a 3-5 second hold. Focus on not allowing the band to collapse the knee inward to further help engage the glutes.

Why Do This Before Lower Body Exercises?
Improves muscle activation and joint mechanics to enhance squat depth and reduce compensation-related injury risk. DM for any questions.

🌟Movement Monday🌟 Banded Overhead Shoulder Mobility (Warm-Up)
Before any overhead lifting, prep your shoulders with these banded overhead shoulder mobility exercises. This quick warm-up helps open the shoulders, improve range of motion, and activate the stabilizing muscles needed for safe and efficient overhead work. Ideal for CrossFit athletes and anyone pressing, snatching, jerking, or kipping, these movements reduce stiffness, reinforce proper positioning, and help prevent shoulder injuries. Focus on controlled movement and full ranges—your shoulders will feel more stable, mobile, and ready to lift. First exercise: Use a flat back with your arm relaxed for 1-2 minutes per shoulder. Second exercise: keep shoulders back and not rounded forward. Relax arms and don’t fight the band. DM for any questions. Save this video for your next warmup!
