Here is another video from last weekend’s spinal manipulation class where I’m demonstrating a technique to the sacroiliac joint.

This is the type of detail that I feel is crucial for carrying out appropriate technique, whether that be for dry needling or for thrust manipulation.

One of the biggest things we focus on is helping clinicians actually apply this in real situations, not just learn it in a course setting.

Very few teach this level of detail.

This is what real hands-on training should look like.

It’s not just about the technique.
It’s about adapting to the patient in front of you and creating meaningful change.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years

A lot of clinicians don’t avoid spinal manipulation because they don’t believe in it

They avoid it because they don’t feel confident enough with it yet

And honestly, that makes sense

Most people don’t get enough reps in school to actually feel comfortable using it consistently

That’s usually the gap. Not knowledge. Not belief. Just confidence from doing it enough times

That’s really what we focus on when we teach. Creating an environment where you can actually get the reps in and start to trust what you’re doing

Ribs can be a delicious meal, but they can also be a very gratifying thing to treat by a manual physical therapist. Manipulation to these joints, and dry needing to the levator scapulae muscle, can be very helpful for posterior shoulder pain!! If you are struggling with this issue, let me know!!

These are from a seminar I taught last weekend in the area. We were covering all the different useful anatomical structures that can be needled. On a patient this would be more finely tuned. A common error by needlers is to focus too much on muscles when the pain is in a non-muscular tissue. Give me a call if you need some pain around the knee area!!
