This week’s topic talks about headaches. There are many types of headaches; cluster, migraine and stress. All of these types of headaches can be caused by some level of spinal misalignment or muscular adhesions.
The daily stress of our lives cause muscle to spasm or tighten. When this occurs, the nerves going into our skull can get pinched or entrapped. When the nerve gets suffocated, blood flow can be compromised creating the headaches.
If it is spinal alignment, usual the first bone of the cervical spine gets translated to the left or right. This creates an irritation to the joint and the surrounding muscles. Through myofascial release and chiropractic manipulation the affected area is calmed down to allow proper blood and neurological flow, which can eliminate or lessen the headache.

This week informational introduces the patient to a chiropractic treatment plan. My plans are always tailor made to your particular chief complain. Treatment for your injury can be remediated by chiropractic manipulation to restrict joints, myofascial release to adhered muscles, electric stimulation or ultrasound, strengthen/core exercises, stretching, and education on how o properly lift or office ergonomics.

In Most cases, the patient entering the office is in pain. The short term goal is to decrease inflammation, reduce pain and increase range of motion. Once you have regained a functional level, long term goals will be introduced like strengthening and increasing activity. These goals help prevent you from future injuries.

Dr. Andy's Weekly Chiropractic Post
This weeks informational memo describes some factors that can cause low back pain. Sciatica can be caused by the impingement of the nerve root leaving the spine or being entraped within the gluteal muscles. This will cause radiating pain down the leg. A herniated disc creates pressure on the exiting nerve root creating pain within the low back and again pain radiating down the leg. Osteoprosis can create a fracture of the vertebral segment causing local low back pain. A sprain/strain of the low back creates an inflammatory affect on the affected joint. This creates sharp local pain and if severe enough, places pressure on the nerve creating another cause for radiation down the leg.

This week we will be providing ideas on how to avoid back pain. As we all know low back pain can be a painful condition. The condition can be brought on by doing a simple task such as making the bed or as traumatic as a slip fall. Treatment by an experienced chiropractor can help resolve your symptoms. Below are some tips to avoid future problems:
• If your job is sedentary, find a reason to get up once an hour to deliver a piece of information or get a drink.
• Regular exercise, especially to core your posture.
• If picking heavy objects, never bend over at waist and lift. Instead bend your legs and hips, and keep the object close to your body.
• Place a pillow between your legs when you sleep on your side to balance at the pelvis/hips.
