🧠 Disc changes are super common.
Most people over 30 have some form of disc bulge, degeneration or change show up on MRI - even if they have zero pain.

💪 Your discs are built for impact.
They’re like shock absorbers for your spine - taking on pressure, load, and movement all day, every day. It’s normal for them to get a little beat up over time. That doesn’t mean they’re “broken.”

MRIs can sometimes show too much.
They’re incredibly detailed, but that can be a double-edged sword. Sometimes they reveal normal, age-related changes that have nothing to do with your current situation or symptoms. That can create unnecessary worry and lead to excessive medications, procedures, and restrictions on activity.

💡 What actually matters:
How your body is functioning.
How your spine is moving.
How your nervous system is adapting.
That’s what we look for in-office with assessments, scans, and testing.

⚠️ The caveat:
MRIs are absolutely essential in some cases - red-flag symptoms, trauma, or when surgery is being considered. They can rule out serious conditions and guide next steps.

But for active adults with everyday back pain?
Your MRI might show more information than it explains.

✨ Bottom line:
Don’t let your MRI (or your discs) scare you. We see this all the time - and the body’s ability to heal, adapt, and stabilize is usually way more powerful than that report suggests.

Questions That Keep Coming Up: “Do I need to stop working out?”

NO! Definitely not! 💪

Look, we get it. You’re dealing with pain or discomfort, and your first instinct might be to shut everything down. But here’s the thing - we WANT you to keep moving.
