8/12/21: Dear Patients, I need to inform you that effective 8/18/21, I will be out of the office and unavailable for care for an estimated 4-6 weeks due to back surgery I will be having. My office will still be available for messages, etc. If you need to reach me for questions on any issues and patient care I will do my best to be available by phone once I have made an early recovery. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. God Bless, Dr V

Please get vaccinated! As a physician interacting with my patients I am continually frustrated with the explanations given me for not pursuing the COVID-19 vaccination. I am open to an explanations but what I am hearing back clearly indicates, in the majority of cases, that unvaccinated people are so misinformed. With the new surges in cases and the Fall season in our future, the cases will likely continue to rise. In central Ohio, the recommendation now is for even vaccinated people to wear masks indoors in areas of higher risks for the virus. Please do yourself, your family and your community a great favor and get vaccinated, please!

5/25/21 As we approach Memorial Day, as the bullets fly killing ourselves in large and small cities alike, please stop and pay respect to our military forefathers, men and women, who sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms. It is a shame that we display our gratitude by such displays of civil disobedience and hate for ALL of our fellow citizens. May God bless and protect us all. Dr Varveris

5/18/21 Update: Our staff is fully vaccinated for Covid but encourage patients, within our office, to maintain social distancing, even in the face of Ohio restrictions relaxing. We will continue to wear masks for several reasons including: to set a good example, especially for those who remain fearful and for the remote possibilities of a viral variant. May God bless you all and keep you safe. We are here to help and offering 37 yrs of practice experience. Dr Varveris

To all existing and prospective patients: our office is fully vaccinated against Covid-19. We will ask and record your vaccination status for each visit. Thanks for your cooperation. —Dr Varveris

JULY 2020 We have been opened now for several months after virtually complete shutdown in April except for emergencies. We are limiting and spacing office visits as best we can during the Corona Virus crisis. However, if you need us, we'll be there for you. Due to the crisis, more than usual, please call and alert us with as much notice as possible to schedule an appointment. Also, if you have made an appointment and cannot keep the appointment, PLEASE give us the courtesy of a phone call to cancel so we can make the most of our more limited hours in these days. Thanks, Dr V and Staff

4/25/20 PANDEMIC UPDATE: We have quarantined from office for more than a few weeks now and I have postponed any elective office surgeries as well as elective foot care for any elderly patients. Beginning next week, we will begin to reschedule some of these patients using care to spread our scheduled appts for the safety of all. I must balance the RISKS for avoiding vs seeing some of these patients with special needs such as my DIABETIC patients with vascular and neurological issues that place them at MUCH HIGHER RISKS for wounds and amputation and not only for COVID-19. Feel free to message me for any questions.

Here's a discussion I've had recently with my elderly patients over say 80-90: During the depression, the highest unemployment rate reached about 25%, and there wasn't a pandemic included. Based on classic photos we have seen of the soup lines, etc., I would have thought it higher.
TODAY: please realize that this PANDEMIC is the challenge of our lifetime.
Our unemployment rate, de facto, may reach over 50% plus the addition of the pandemic... FOR THOSE USING THIS AS A POLITICAL ISSUE: let me ask you, how do you want to be compared by future generations comparing us to "The Greatest Generation" for example?
I am embarrassed by the continued in-fighting and IMO, lack of patriotism during this crisis.
When your COUNTRY called on you to be selfless and patriotic, how did YOU behave???

3/26/20 Even I, as a physician am having more trouble than just getting TP. I'm down to my last batch of surgical masks that I will have to recycle. I've checked my main medical suppliers who have no stock. Even Amazon, shows several ear-loop masks all with poor reviews, PRICE GOUGING, and shipping not until MAY-JUNE which does me not a bit of good in interfacing with my patients... Might have to get out my Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians bandanas!

Spring is coming or upon is and historically, through my 35 yr or so career, this is the time I tended to see the most JUVENILE WARTS. So parents of kids older than 5-6, check your kids' feet for raised lesions alone or in clusters. Some may spontaneously resolve but I have treated some pretty nasty lesions over the years. Respect them and attempt to get rid of them ASAP.
