Have you seen the recent viral video of singer LeeAnn Rimes having an emotional release during a jaw massage? Her provider is working on her jaw, and she bursts into sobs.

It's wild! Emotional. Vulnerable. And then you can tell: she feels SO much better.

I don't do intra-oral massage, but I'd guess that's super common for a spot that so rarely gets worked on. And an emotional release that sometimes comes with massage isn't about the techniques being used. It's about the body holding onto tension, stress, and trauma, until it's given an opportunity to let go of it.

Emotional releases aren't something that's planned or strategized. No massage therapist should be pushing you into one. But if it happens, the massage room is a safe space to let it flow.

My office has always got kleenex and a cozy table, and I'm always ready to hold whatever you're bringing to your session.

I've got some jaw pain lately (me, not my pup in photo)
and I've been practicing massaging it myself with the
advice of my LMT friend Ada Boje. 🥰 Wow, is it
tender!

Wanted to share this awesome little article from NPR with you: https://www.npr.org/2026/02/10/g-s1-108985/in-a-world-built-for-sitting-heres-how-to-stay-active-even-when-stuck-inside

The gist: even if you're stuck inside (weather? germs? that thing called work? 😛) , you can still get some critical movement in each day.

Their indoor ideas:
➡ march in place while on a phone call
➡ walk laps around the house/office
➡ 2-3 minutes of walking up and down stairs, then stretch and repeat
➡ walk the hallway to give yourself some time out of your chair

I love this recent reminder from Rebecca Solnit (brilliant author/activist) in that we're not waiting for a superhero to show up and help our society. It's us. It's our collective strength that's gonna change the world for the better.

Hot tip: parenting the next generation to be curious, empathetic, and kind is one giant way you're already supporting the transformation! 💪🤩

Moving one tiny step in the right direction is still moving!

I'm practicing naming my tiny steps lately. Yep, I folded three towels and put em away. Good job. I'm that much closer to disappearing the mountain of clean laundry!

I've been prepping all winter, and this spring, I'll be back to teaching continuing education classes for my massage therapist peers. I'm especially excited to unveil my brand new hands-on class, lovingly crafted based on years of prenatal and postpartum massage experience!

Perinatal Massage: Person-Centered Care for Pregnancy and Postpartum will offer 6 continuing ed credits and I'll be teaching it in Corvallis on April 25.

So excited to be a part of developing more confident, skilled perinatal massage pros to serve folks like you. 🤩

I just realized this morning, to my high schooler's disappointment, that every single electric car I see (and school bus!) brings an opportunity to sing Electric Slide 😅

The world is a mess and I've been getting serious about real self care: what actually fills my needs right now? These things change, but having some ideas in my back pocket for tough days has been a game changer for me.

What's your real self care look like this week?🧐
