It has a lot of names and some can cause confusion, itโ€™s cooked as a vegetable and the bitterest in the gourd family.

Its bitter taste is great for Spring.
It pacifies Kapha and Pitta doshas.
Eaten in excess can be depleting, especially for Vata dosha.
