Do you have a memory of Walter Davis?

When I was 10, I went to see the Heels play in the North-South Doubleheader in Charlotte. Back then, security wasn't near as tight and somehow, I walked right out onto the old Charlotte Coliseum court, immediately following their win. Of all the great players on that team, I made a beeline for #24. It was then that I realized how truly TALL these players are, as opposed to how they appeared on TV. I reached up to touch his back to get his attention, and my hand drew back quickly from his jersey, covered in sweat! I couldn't believe it, as he didn't appear sweaty. It showed me at a young age how much physical effort went into these games. Again, something that a 10 year old could not tell on TV. I've always carried a tremendous amount of respect for this GIANT in Carolina Basketball History. RIP, Sweet D. 😪
