🌟First Employee Highlight: Dr. Joseph A Smith, M.D. 🌟
Q: How many years ago did you get started at Your Doctors Care?
A: “I am one of the original partners. Dr. Weinstein and myself started the practice in April, 1985. We started initially as all walk-in visits but early on added appointments as our practice grew. Patients loved both of these aspects of the practice, so to this day we keep the walk-in visits on weekends but have all appointments during the week.”
Q: What’s your favorite memory during your time at YDC?
A: “Probably all the holiday parties we have. We consider ourselves a family. Over the years, we have had unique parties, including a scavenger hunt, local cruises, casino nights, winery parties, mystery dinners, and more! We’re always looking for a new idea.”
Q: What’s your favorite part about working at YDC?
A: “Over the years staff members have left [temporarily to go back to school, raise their family etc.] and then have come back to work full- or part- time. We have a saying, borrowed from a line in the famous song “Hotel California” by the Eagles: “You can check out but you can never leave!"”
Q: What made you want to work in the medical field?
A: “I volunteered at ages 16 and 17 in an emergency room on Long Island where I grew up, and decided by my Senior year of high school not only to go into medicine but to become a family doctor.”
Q: Where did you study?
A: “Undergraduate: SUNY Binghamton, NY, followed by Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY.”
Q: Outside of the office, what are some of your favorite things to do?
A: “I enjoy cycling and other exercising, attending country music concerts, traveling, gardening and other activities around my house, photography, and anything with my kids!”
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: “I get dressed up for Halloween at the office every year!”
