Stress, low back pain, incontinence, muscle tensionโฆ what do they all have in common? ๐ค
Breathing!
Whether we're constantly sucking in to fit into clothes or so rushed we forget how to slow down - our breath mimics how our body is dealing with stress.
360 breathing is a great drill to slow down, increase awareness in your body, and reduce tension in your neck, back, and pelvic floor. Think of your abdomen like a canister ๐ฅซ surrounded by your diaphragm, pelvic floor, and the front and back of your lower ribs. When lying down or standing, breathe into your lower abdomen to expand your canister and then release your breath fully to shrink your canister.
Using light weights or a band around your waist and intentionally breathing into them can also help to train your brain to breathe into the belly - not the chest.
Try it out and see if you feel more relaxed. A deep breath will do you good ๐ฎโ๐จ
