Hillsville Fire Department The Hillsville Fire Department is a Volunteer Department with approximately 50 active and organizational members and run approximately 500 calls a year.

The department operates out of three Fire Stations.

Messaging around smoke alarms and batteries is more nuanced now that newer smoke alarms often feature 10-year batteries.

For those ending this weekend, change clocks and check batteries, only if needed. Test smoke alarms monthly.

On 11/7/25 at 1349 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to Interstate 77 North at the 14.1 mile marker for a single vehicle crash. Units arrived to find a suv that had been impailed by a guard rail and was blocking all northbound lanes. The driver was out of the vehicle and had sustained serious injuries. CCFR handled patient care and called for air transport. Fire units set up a LZ on the interstate for AirCare 2. The patient was then flown to a trauma center. Other assisting agencies on scene were CCSO and VSP who is investigating the crash.

On 11/4/25 at 0918 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to Floyd Pike near Hillsville Elementary School for a motor vehicle accident. Squad 1 arrived to find one vehicle overturned, off the roadway, down a small embankment. The driver had self extricated prior to arrival. CCFR handled patient care and transported the driver to a local hospital with NLT injuries. VDOT was contacted due to the damage to the bridge railing. Other assisting agencies were CCSO and VSP who is investigating the crash.

Hillsville Fire members enjoyed spending time out in the community this evening at the Hillsville Safe Halloween! We met some great people and seen some great costumes! We enjoyed everyone stopping by to say hi and grabbing some candy.

On 10/29/25 at 2318 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to the 2500 Block of Carrollton Pike for a two vehicle accident with entrapment. Command 1 arrived and found two vehicles with heavy damage and confirmed entrapment on one vehicle. Squad 1 arrived and went to work removing all doors of the vehicle to free the four occupants that were trapped. The patients were removed and patient care was transferred to CCFR and PGRS. All patients were transported to a local hospital with NLT injuries. Great team work by all on scene. Other assisting agencies were HPD and VSP who is investigating the crash.
