There is a lot going on with this one! Feel the engagement of the leg muscles as you lunge into it. Establish your sense of balance as you twist your spine. Feel a deep release in the lower back as you press into the energy lines. Remember to stay aware of the level of the hope and shoulders to keep the spine in alignment during the twist. Move with your breath and enjoy!

This is a great exercise to establish deeper body awareness and balance. Standing on one leg obviously take some balancing skills so work up to it. Maybe start off with the feet barely lifting off the ground. Being aware of the tilt of the hips and the location of the joints in relation to each other on the standing leg will allow quicker progression. Good luck in gaining confidence in your one leg balances!

Here's a great exercise for stretching the back, chest, and shoulders. The breath lock brings the stretch a little deeper and allows you feel the energy flow of the posture. The standing on the toes also aids in the lengthening stretch of the spine, but it can take some balancing practice before it feels stable.

Here's an early version of a poem I wrote.

Freedom of choice

Here're some food and water for your mind.
Concentration is your strength to let your
understanding shine.
Actions are intentions and they'are
shaped by views.
Each and every moment you have the
right to refuse
Unskillful views, It's your freedom of choice
Results of your actions past present and
future.
This is important to develop
the right view for.
Choose the skillful choice and live
compassionately.
It's most beneficial for yourself
and those whom you see. Freedom of choice
Exercise your freedom to grow your freedom
to total Freedom.
This path will strengthen you.
Then your conviction in Karma will
Start to shine through.
This principle is subtle, but can be seen
You shape your life with each moment
and the now in between
each breath, it's your freedom of choice

Through mindfulness your concentration will
bloom ease and wellbeing
You will find a new position in strength
in wealth and a feeling of freeing
This is the food and water to nourish your mind
and strengthen your discernment to see through
the design
That it's your freedom of choice.
Acknowledge the unskillful parts of your mind
Be sure not to deny or cast them aside in the
darkness where they're sure to grow
Just know your past life has no power over you now
You will choose to follow the skill that is right
Awaken what's real in your own life
it's your freedom of choice

Get settled, get familiar, with the
thoughts in your head.
Get them all on the same page
like these words you have read.
Sort it out and give priority to the
skillful deed.
Stick to this with conviction
and you will end your unease.
It's your freedom of choice.

Thanks to everyone who follows my page! This week we passed 100 followers!
It feels motivating when people follow the page and like and comment on the posts.

My goal with this page is to continue to post these short clips of individual techniques from Thai yoga. These posts will come every other Wednesday. The longer videos that the clips come from are posted on YouTube the week prior.
Every few months I will post follow-along style sequences with breathing instructions.

I plan to create infographics for each technique and post them to Pinterest later on. I want to present the techniques in an easy to understand format for all learning styles. I will also write blogs and post them to www.versathaiyoga.com . These projects will roll out slowly since I am currently a full-time student at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
