While it’s a new year, it’s not a new me, but a bigger me, a more confident me—a me that still retreats!! And while I am trusting the Universe to take care of my other 11 wishes (see previous post), it’s my work to bring my last wish into fruition. Eventually I will offer 4 retreats a year-one to usher in each season of our continuous natural cycle. There is no coincidence in that being the wish left in my jar, the same month featured me in an article titled “Retreating for a Fuller Life”. What an amazing opportunity to share what I believe to be one of the biggest gifts in my own health and wellness. I cannot wait to open this tonight-and yes it will be WAY before midnight. On Winter Solstice I put 12 wishes into this jar. Wishes ran the gamut from things, experiences, personal and professional goals. Before bed, each night since, I have pulled one out, and without looking, burned it. Trusting that the Universe will take care of that one. This one is the one I will need to put in the work for. Two interesting things I discovered with this ritual…It was actually hard to come up with 12 wishes-so I feel good about the direction I am going in. And, I immediately knew which wish I hoped would be the one I opened.

Thank you for showing up on your mat. Thank you for traveling with me on retreat. Thank you for trusting me to guide and challenge you. Thank you for the hugs, the laughs, and the stories. Thank you for sharing my posts and inviting your friends to class. Thank you for allowing me to be myself, to make mistakes, to change my mind. Thank you for all the ways you support me.

You are a gift to me. Your presence is a present. You are part of my everyday mundane magic. You are my biggest teacher.

My heart is FULL!

I hope this holiday season allows you to rest, reflect and connect in meaningful ways. I encourage you to put your phone down and experience moments with all of your senses.

For those missing someone this holiday, know that you don’t have to choose between gratitude and grief. You can hold one in each hand and still find the light in the dark.

When you return to your mat, do so not as punishment for what you ate, or as a scolding for taking time away. Come back in celebration of YOU! And let the practice provide grounding during the continued winter with its warmth, space and clarity.
