Our goal at the Hinsdale Asthma & Allergy Center is to get our patients feeling back to their normal state of health as soon as possible. Dr. K. Dr. M.

We want you to breathe better! Please note that our last allergy shot appointments are always 30 minutes before close Dr. Kiran Girdhar is a board certified allergist that has been in practice in the western suburbs for the past 28 years. She has extensive experience in treating asthma of all severity, environmental allergies, food allergies, medication allergy, chronic sinus problems, chronic cough, skin allergies (eczema, contact allergies, chemical allergies), and exercise-induced coughs. Girdhar has held a position as clinical assistant professor in Pediatrics and Allergy Immunology at the University of Chicago for 15 years, and has trained both residents and medical students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and traveling. Dr. Manika Girdhar is new to our Hinsdale Asthma & Allergy practice in Hinsdale, IL, as of August 2014. She is a board certified pediatrician and a specialist in treating allergy, asthma, and immunology for both adults and children. She attended Hinsdale Central High School and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She graduated from Midwestern University Medical School and completed her pediatric residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. She then completed her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri in June 2014. Girdhar’s areas of expertise include food and drug allergies, asthma, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, eczema, rashes, and a variety of other allergic and/or immunologic conditions. Her most recent manuscript was published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology discussing the role and effect of omega-3 fatty acids in pregnancy and the development of atopic disease. During her free time, Dr. M. Girdhar enjoys travelling, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family and friends.

We’re excited to share that a highly qualified new physician is joining our family. Please welcome Dr. Daina Ringus.

Dr. Daina Ringus is an allergist and immunologist who cares for both adults and children with a full spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions. She earned her undergraduate degree at Yale University and went on to complete a PhD in Food Science & Technology at Cornell University.

Her research prior to medical school focused on the gut microbiome. Inspired by her scientific work and a desire to help patients, she pursued medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Allergy & Immunology.

During fellowship, her research centered on understanding food allergy in adults in the clinic and at the basic immunological level.

Dr. Ringus’s clinical expertise includes the management of food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis,
chronic rhinosinusitis, chronic urticaria, eczema, and drug allergy.

She is passionate about helping food allergy patients and their families with evidence-based treatments and
individualized care strategies.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ringus enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, playing tennis, and reading.
