It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Faye McCart, a devoted sister, aunt, and friend, who was born on February 15, 1951, and passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 75. Her life was defined by compassion, service, and quiet strength.

Linda is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Virgil and Dorethea McCart, and her brother, Thomas McCart. She is lovingly survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Willie Straughan of Mustang, OK, nephew Derek Woodruff of Tuttle, OK, and niece Jessica Lyle [and husband Josh] of Oklahoma City, OK, along with their children Killian and Adalyn Lyle; as well as extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

A woman with a true servant’s heart, Linda McCart dedicated her entire professional life to public service. Through her work in public policy and grant writing, she advocated tirelessly for human services and children’s welfare programs, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives and communities. Her work reflected a deep and abiding commitment to caring for others, especially the most vulnerable among us.

Outside of her career, Linda found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved sailboats and lighthouses, finding peace and beauty in their quiet symbolism and the stories they seemed to tell. She enjoyed pasta dinners paired with a good glass of white wine, often shared with those she loved. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed novels by James Patterson and similar authors, and she could often be found enjoying a compelling law show.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted and active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Madison, Wisconsin, Linda lived out her faith not only in word, but in action – through kindness, generosity, and steadfast service. She found comfort in the rhythms of prayer and worship and carried that peace into the way she cared for others.

Above all, Linda will be remembered as a selfless and loving person who gave freely of herself and walked through this world with grace. We trust that she is now held in God’s eternal care, where there is no more pain or sorrow, only peace.

A service celebrating the life of Linda will be held at Hinton Cemetery, 821 N. Marion Ave. in Hinton, Oklahoma, on April 14th at 11 a.m., with prayers of thanksgiving for her life and witness. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and in hope after the service at The Wright Place Events Center, located at 111 W. Main, Hinton.
