Marie Louise (Mulder) Loula was born December 4, 1937, near Eakly, Oklahoma, at the Mulder home place to John and Murl Luekenga Mulder. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family on March 15, 2026 at the age of 88. Marie grew up in the Eakly community and attended Elm Grove and Alfalfa schools. She graduated from high school in 1955 as the valedictorian of her class. Following graduation, she continued her education at Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and later at Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. On March 16, 1957, she married her childhood sweetheart, Jerry Loula. The couple made their home in Anadarko, Oklahoma, where Marie worked for the Anadarko Daily News and later for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative and the Bureau of Reclamation. During this time, they welcomed their two sons, Darren Jay and Michael Wade. In 1980, Marie and Jerry moved back to the family farm near Eakly, where they continued to enjoy the life they loved. Marie was known as “Nan” to her grandchildren and “Aunt Rie” to her nieces and nephews. Her family fondly joked about calling to see if “Nan’s Café” was open, because her kitchen was always filled with the smells of homemade favorites. Among the most requested dishes were her macaroni and cheese, wacky cake, cinnamon rolls, and hot rolls. She was especially known for preparing as many as four crockpots of macaroni and cheese for Wednesday night church gatherings, gladly sharing her cooking with family and friends. In addition to cooking for those she loved, Marie developed a deep passion for quilting. She began by making quilt tops and soon became active in the Eakly Home and Community Education Club. Her beautiful quilts earned numerous blue ribbons and grand champion awards at various fairs, and she was often asked to serve as a judge for quilt exhibits. Marie also enjoyed collecting and preserving family recipes. At the request of her granddaughters, she compiled many of her treasured recipes into a cookbook so they could be passed down through the family. The book, titled Recipes from “Nan’s Kitchen”, became a special keepsake for generations to come. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. Her faith, kindness, creativity, and love for her family will always be remembered.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Loula of Eakly; her sons, Darren Jay Loula and wife Tammie of Ozark, MO, and Michael Wade Loula and wife Tiffaney of Eakly, OK; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darren and Tammie’s sons include Darren Edward Loula and wife Katie, and Brian Scott Loula and wife Tamara. Darren Edward and Katie have two children, Avery and Colby. Brian Scott and Tamara have three children, Dusti, Dayton, and Daxton. Michael and Tiffaney’s children include Michaela Jae Morales and husband Stephen, Karlee Jordan Rains and husband Taylor, and Trent Michael Loula and wife Sunnie. Michaela and Stephen have one child, Stockton Wade. Karlee and Taylor have two sons, Easton and Kaden, Trent and wife Sunnie have two girls, Machelle Marie and Clara Rose, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
