My best bodywork happens when client fully trusts the process and lets their body surrender into the table.
When muscles relax, they release. When the body fights the pressure โ whether pushing against it because itโs too much or bracing for more โthe muscle actually tightens to protect itself.
I often explain pressure on a 1โ10 scale. The sweet spot is around a 7 โ a โgood hurt.โ Deep enough to encourage release, but not so intense that the body goes into defense mode.
A common misconception is that deeper is always better. In reality, extremely aggressive pressure can cause the nervous system to guard the muscle instead of releasing it.
Great bodywork isnโt about forcing the muscle itโs about working with the body so it feels safe enough to let go.
