Today, the Community Drug Coalition had the honor of volunteering at Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen, helping prepare food boxes for individuals and families in need within our community.

Giving back is a powerful reminder that recovery, service, and compassion go hand in hand. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our neighbors; and for organizations like Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen that continue to make a real difference every day.

Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up with heart and purpose. Together, we are stronger. ❤️

Fatherhood in Focus: The Pursuit of Happiness

This week in 24/7 Dads® class, we watched The Pursuit of Happiness as part of the course. Chris Gardner’s struggle shows the true impact of fatherhood showing up, staying present, and never giving up.

See these lessons in action through our 24/7 Dads® classes, offered Thursday evenings from 6–8 PM @ Community Drug Coalition, which is part of our TRE Foundation Programming, and National Fatherhood Initiative®.

🚨 Struggling with Anger? You’re Not Alone. 🚨
Anger Management Class for Women.

Anger doesn’t just “show up.” It builds in the body, in our thoughts, in our emotions, and in our behaviors. In our Anger Management class, we break it down so it can be managed before it takes control.

This week participants learned to:
✔ Identify real-life events that trigger anger
✔ Recognize the four key warning signs of anger:
• Physical cues
• Behavioral cues
• Emotional cues
• Cognitive (thinking) cues
✔ Use a weekly anger check-in process to track patterns and increase self-control

This class isn’t about punishment or blame! It’s about awareness, accountability, and learning tools that actually work.

Change starts when we pay attention. If anger is affecting your relationships, work, or peace of mind, this class may be the next step.

🎓 IOP GRADUATION DAY 🎓

We are celebrating three incredible individuals who completed 16 weeks of hard work, growth, and commitment to themselves and their recovery.

Over the last four months, they showed up—even on the hard days. They learned how to use planners to structure their days, practiced tools to build a strong recovery toolbox, and most importantly, learned how to take care of themselves.

This wasn’t easy work. It required honesty, consistency, accountability, and courage. And they did it. 💪

Graduation doesn’t mean the journey is over—it means they are walking forward better equipped, more self-aware, and more confident in their ability to handle life one day at a time.

We are so proud of each of you and honored to be part of your journey. Keep going. You are worth it. 🌱

👏 Congratulations to our IOP graduates! 👏

Reducing the problems of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Hobbs and Lea County!

In 2005, the Community Drug Coalition (CDC) of Lea County began as a grass-roots initiative by local citizens and community leaders in an effort to address the growing drug problem in Hobbs and Lea County, New Mexico. The dedication, commitment and efforts of a small group of people developed into a non-profit coalition. The City of Hobbs, the County of Lea and others provide funding for the CDC. The CDC would not have become a reality without the financial support of the local governments and citizens.

MISSION

The CDC is committed to the reduction of substance abuse in Lea County, thus improving the lives of the entire community.
