Welcome to Part 2 of Thriving With Anxiety Using DBT
Today we’re looking at black and white thinking. A common cognitive distortion that leads up to see the world and/or ourselves as either too good or too bad. We are either incredible or complete failures. This form of thinking often leads to anxiety as our perception of the world has become rigid and inflexible.
Using dialectical reframing we can begin to learn to see the world in “shades of grey”. A perspective that allows us to hold space for both black and white thoughts, and find the middle ground. Its not about deciding between the two, rather, its about holding space for both.
Once you can start to practice this skill daily, you begin to thrive with your anxiety. Come back on Friday when we look at mindfulness 🧘🏽♂️
