I am often asked:
"You must have had a lot of patients come in from snow shoveling!"
In fact, beyond mild soreness in a few patients, it was quite the opposite effect. We received many thank you's because our patients were NOT in pain from shoveling! They attributed their lack of pain to spinal correction & being proactive in our practice.
Snow Shoveling Tips:
- Spray your snow blade with WD-40 or Non-Stick Skillet Spray
- Use your legs. Contract the lower abdominal muscles around the navel when lifting snow
- Avoid Rotating the spine when lifting. Push with legs and abs when possible
- Squat more. You get a great leg work out and save the back
- Get the spine checked with radiographs, to determine the symmetry and angles of the spine. Get spinal correction to avoid risk of further injury
