Receptive language is all about what your child understands — and it grows so much in the first few years! 🧠✨

From following simple commands to answering “wh” questions, these milestones give a general picture of how children learn to process and understand language. Every child develops at their own pace, but knowing what to look for can help you feel confident supporting their communication.

If you ever have questions or concerns about your child’s understanding of language, early support can make a big difference. We’re here to help every step of the way 💬💛

Why Messy Eating Is GOOD 🙌

Messy Eating = Learning

Messy meals aren’t a problem—they’re part of development.

Mess supports:
✔️ Sensory processing
✔️ Oral motor skills
✔️ Hand-mouth coordination
✔️ Food acceptance
✔️ Self-regulation

Cleaner meals don’t equal better meals. Exploration leads to confidence.

👶 2 years: 50+ words & 2-word phrases
👶 3 years: 200+ words
👶 4 years: 500+ words

Every child develops at their own pace—but milestones help guide us! 🌱

The Myo Munchee is an oral motor device designed to support chewing strength, tongue posture, lip closure, and jaw development—all foundational skills for feeding, speech, and airway health.

✨ Potential benefits include:
✔️ Improved chewing endurance
✔️ Increased tongue awareness and strength
✔️ Support for lip seal and jaw stability
✔️ Encourages nasal breathing
✔️ Can support feeding and speech goals when used appropriately

The Myo Munchee is not a one-size-fits-all tool. When recommended by a trained provider, it can be a helpful supplement to therapy—not a replacement for functional feeding and skill-based practice. 💓😬

Valentine’s crafts aren’t just cute—they’re skill builders 💌

Cutting, gluing, coloring, and assembling help strengthen fine motor skills (little hand muscles needed for writing and self-care) and visual motor skills (using the eyes and hands together).

A fun, meaningful way to support development while making memories ❤️

🎉 It’s time to celebrate! 🎉

Messy hands, colorful faces, and BIG wins at the dinner table 💚

This little one is exploring textures, building confidence, and learning that food can be fun — and yes, messy is progress!

Feeding therapy isn’t about perfection, it’s about participation, curiosity, and growth 🙌

📸 Share your dinner table wins with us — we love celebrating every bite, smear, and smile along the way!

🗣️✨ Speech Sound Development Milestones

✔️ 2 years: ~50% intelligible
✔️ 3 years: ~75% intelligible
✔️ 4 years: 95%+ intelligible
✔️ 5–6 years: Mastery of later sounds

If your child seems behind, early support can make a big difference 💬💛

BLW vs Purées—You Don’t Have to Choose Just One! 🍽️👶🏽

Feeding doesn’t have to be all BLW or all purées. Many families successfully use a combination approach.

✔️ Purées can support early spoon skills
✔️ BLW foods build chewing and oral motor strength
✔️ Babies can self-feed purées using pre-loaded spoons
✔️ Flexibility reduces stress for parents and babies

There’s no “one right way” to feed—what matters most is safety, skill-building, and positive experiences. 🥑🍓

🗣️💬 Conversation Code in action!

This week’s speech social group, we practiced Whole Body Listening — keeping our eyes, body, brain, and heart engaged as part of the group.

These skills help children stay connected, understand others’ perspectives, and feel confident participating in conversations with peers 🤍

💡 Want to support this at home? Try noticing when your child’s body and mind are “with the group” during daily routines and social moments.

Big skills, small steps, meaningful connections ✨

“My Baby Doesn’t Like It” 🍽️

Or…

they’re just learning.

New foods are new skills. When babies squish, spit out, gag, make faces, or refuse a bite, it often means:
✔️ They’re learning the texture
✔️ They’re mapping the taste
✔️ They’re figuring out how to move food safely
✔️ Their nervous system is processing something unfamiliar
Discomfort doesn’t equal dislike.

Liking a food can take many exposures—and for babies, early experiences are about learning, not intake.

What helps:
• Repeated exposure without pressure
• Neutral reactions to faces and spit-outs
• Letting baby lead the pace
• Modeling enjoyment of foods
