New Data Supports Metformin as a Glaucoma-Protective Agent

Patients with diabetes had a 19% lower risk of developing the disease, according to a study of UK Biobank participants.

“These findings suggest that, among patients with diabetes who are at increased risk of glaucoma, prioritizing metformin use may have potential to mitigate the glaucoma risk,” wrote the authors in their paper.
