Barrett was recently discharged from speech therapy at Phelps Memorial Therapy Center! Barrett was treated by our new pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, Megan Wheeland. Megan is our newest speech therapist and she leads our pediatric caseload but treats patients of all ages.

The Speech Therapists at the Phelps Memorial Therapy Center are ASHA certified and professionally trained to assist individuals with a variety of disorders. All of our therapists are trained in both pediatric and adult speech therapy. If you have any difficulties understanding what another is saying, being asked to repeat yourself, difficulty eating, or prolonged hoarseness, please ask your doctor if you might benefit from speech therapy today! November is American Diabetes Month and earlier this month we were able to host a great community education regarding diabetes and technology.

At Phelps Memorial’s “Thriving with Diabetes”, Linda Liljehorn shared how continuous glucose monitoring and an insulin pump have dramatically improved her diabetes management. Once dependent on multiple daily injections, she now benefits from real-time glucose monitoring, discreet insulin delivery, and improved A1c levels. Linda and her husband both say the technology has given them greater peace of mind. Therapists from Phelps Memorial Therapy Center will be at the Bertrand Senior Center on December 3rd from 12:30 PM -1:30 PM to perform free balance screens. They will assess for any deficits and give ideas on home safety tips. The screen will take less than five minutes and will provide valuable information on whether a person is at risk for a fall.
