🦃 Thanksgiving Pet Safety Tips from Buck Rd Animal Hospital 🐾

Keep your pets safe this holiday by avoiding harmful foods like turkey skin and bones, onions, garlic, and chocolate. Limit rich, fatty dishes, secure all trash, and remind guests not to give table scraps.

Set up a quiet space for your pet to relax, and use gates or closed doors to prevent escapes or access to unsafe areas.

Wishing you and your furry family a safe and happy Thanksgiving! 🧡🐾

If there’s a dog that “can’t be groomed,” Andrea will prove otherwise. She takes them all, she’s certified in Fear-Free grooming, and even other groomers refer pups her way when they can’t manage them. Nyla, the Shih Tzu, is all smiles and feeling amazing after getting all that hair tamed!

November is Pet Diabetes Month 🐶🐱🩺

November is a crucial time for health awareness. While many focus on American Diabetes Month®, it’s also Pet Diabetes Month! Knowing the signs of this condition is the first step toward successful management.
Diabetes is a serious condition, but with proper care, your cat or dog can continue to live a long, comfortable, and happy life.
Be On The Lookout For Symptoms
If you notice your pet showing any combination of the following common signs, contact us immediately:
• Excessive thirst and increased urination
• Accidents around the house (urinating in inappropriate locations)
• Weight loss despite increased hunger
• Increased cloudiness of the eye lens due to cataracts
• Weakness and lethargy
• Skin conditions, such as dandruff or an oily hair coat
• Recurring infections
While a diabetes diagnosis can be scary, remember that your pet can absolutely live a long, comfortable, and normal life! With hypervigilance regarding their diet, exercise, and potential insulin needs, their quality of life can be no different than that of a non-diabetic pet.
If you suspect your cat or dog may have diabetes, or if you simply want to learn more about prevention and management, please contact us right away—we’re here to help.
