Decisions decisions.......

When talking with our clients about how much or what type of activity they should be doing while on our meal plans, the number one question we get is: Should I do cardio or lift weights?

Honestly, the answer lies in what type of "fit" you're looking for.

While both have benefits for your health, one will help you lose weight quicker and look "fitter". That one is weight lifting.

Most of us think that more sweat means a better workout but that's just not the case. Cardio burns calories while you're moving but lifting and gaining muscle burns calories while you sleep,🛌 making you a calorie burning machine 24/7.💪

🏋️‍♀️Lifting will make your clothes fit differently. Weight loss shouldnt be about the number on the scale, but reshaping your silhouette to give you that "toned" look that cardio just cant do.

Looks aren't the only thing that will change. It's been proven that people who continue to lift weights later in thier lives have healthier bones and joints. Prolonging our physical abilities far into our later years in life 👵👴

The verdict: 70/30. 70% of the time you should be weightlifting and the other 30% cardio. You will feel and see the results quicker while also giving your heart 💗the proper training it needs.

Coffee☕ - one of the best things this life has to offer! (in my opinion at least)😁

For most of us, coffee is what gets us through the day - whether it be at work or with the kids. But if you're trying to lose weight or maintain shape, it's not the coffee that could be a problem, but what you put IN it.

I know, I know, for a lot of us black coffee is disgusting 🤢 BUT that doesn't mean that you need a tripple pump double pump with the chocolate shavings on top! I will not lie and say they are not delicious, just keep in mind that if you find yourself having a hard time making progress in your weight loss journey, the additives to your morning cup could be holding you back.

Think about it, if your meal plan has you at 1600 calories for the day, then one Caramel Frappuccino would be 1/4 of your daily limit. If you have a second one (I love an after lunch coffee) you would be losing 1/2 of your calories.

I guarantee that with 3 meals or even 2 if you skip one that you will be at or above your daily limit for weight loss and progress will be slow or non-existent. Let's say you were at your 1600 limit, eating 800 cals a day in food will have you feeling tired and hungry all day.

If you want to boost your progress without giving up real "food", be mindful about what goes in your coffee. That doesn't mean you can't treat yourself every once in a while😜

Throwback to last January when Valentina followed through on her New Year's resolution and after 3 months became a different person ❤

We started working in January (last year) with the bold goal of losing 20+ by the end of her 3 month meal plan. Which is... difficult.
Especially after 3 kids!

But we DID IT💪

What changes did we make?

❌Before we started working together, Valentina only ate in the afternoon and evening. This resulted in a slower metabolism due to the lack of regular full meals.

✅We switched to 4 meals/day (breakfast/lunch/dinner + snack) - well balanced, WITHOUT stopping carbohydrates, BUT still in a calorie deficit.

Movement:
She works at a desk. Some days there was a lot of movement, others - none.
But sticking to the meal plan was and always is key to progress!

✅ - 4.5 inches off her waist
✅ - 6.25 inches off her hips 💪
