The benefits are endless… ❤️
A 2023 clinical study evaluated whether red light therapy can reverse visible signs of skin aging, and the findings were compelling.
In this study, 20 adults used an at-home red LED mask emitting light at 630 ± 10 nm for 12 minutes per session, twice weekly, over the course of 3 months. Researchers assessed multiple objective markers of skin aging, including crow’s feet wrinkle depth, facial sagging, firmness and elasticity, dermal density (via ultrasound imaging), skin roughness, pore size, sebum levels, complexion uniformity, and overall participant satisfaction.
Results showed progressive improvements throughout the treatment period. After 12 weeks, crow’s feet wrinkle depth was reduced by up to ~38%. Skin firmness and elasticity significantly increased, dermal density improved, and participants demonstrated smoother texture, reduced roughness, smaller-appearing pores, and lower sebum production. Complexion became more even, and notably, 100% of participants reported overall improvement in their skin.
Importantly, benefits persisted for at least one month after discontinuing treatment, suggesting lasting structural changes rather than temporary cosmetic effects. More research is needed before that conclusion can be reached.
