I find that winter is a time of contemplation. A time to pause from working on the property and instead dream about what it might become.
Winter is a time I can see what the animals are up to; their favorite routes through the woods, favorite spots to hunt, favorite places with perennial water, etc. The labyrinth is still traveled and the paths are still there. The seeds for the cut flower garden have arrived and the propagation of native plants is in progress indoors. I’m looking forward to a spring with plenty of surprises as I have forgotten all the places I buried bulbs this past fall… perhaps that was on purpose:)
