Does yoga help with scoliosis?
Since childhood, we all slouch and over the years, our body settles even more. This causes discomfort: the back gets tired, the lower back hurts, the neck tenses, it is hard to stand and sit.
In class, I often observe that people perform right and left poses differently. This happens because in scoliosis, the muscles are stretched unevenly from both sides.
With scoliosis, yoga helps only if you practice consciously and correctly.
Simply mechanical repetition of postures only exacerbates scoliosis.
Every scoliosis is unique. To reduce or stop its development, you need to feel and understand how your body works. And you also need to understand that there is no magic pose that will fix everything. The regularity of classes and a systematic approach are important.
The alignment process can take many years, but starting the right way, you will definitely come to the result.
The point of alignment is not to become absolutely symmetrical, it is impossible and unnecessary. It is important to relieve tension, reduce incorrect load and learn to relax those areas where you experience discomfort.
