Adoption doesn’t change genetics. Genetically 50% father and 50% mother, when you name call “ those people”, “ that woman”, “ s***m donor” etc and attribute behaviors you don’t like- not only are you putting the adoptee down. You also aren’t taking responsibility to attune to the complex needs of adoptees or your parenting practices. Accountability is needed nature did not give all the negative while parenting and nurture gave all the good. You can do better. Yes, these comment sting. Yes, as a provider I hear them about adoptees. If you say my mother is crazy and then bring me to therapy- aren’t you calling me crazy? I don’t treat crazy, I help people who’ve been wronged heal.
