Last Saturday longtime donor Anne marked her birthday in the most meaningful way—by donating at our Brooklyn Donor Center alongside 10 close friends! 💛

“The best part of saving lives for my birthday was making it a family and friends event! We had such a good time… It was a great day all around!”

From cupcakes (including gluten-free options!) to a surprise appearance by Dracula (Anne's husband), this celebration was one to remember.

Anne even said, "We even may have inspired several donors, not part of my group, to celebrate their birthdays at the Brooklyn Blood Center. It was a great day all around!" 🎂

Our O- inventory is at a critical level, with less than a 3-day supply remaining. O+ is also in constant demand, as it can help the majority of patients and is one of the most commonly used blood types in hospitals.

Congratulations to our Lady Gaga sweepstakes winner… Zoe is feeling lucky indeed 🍀✨

Zoe has been donating since high school, simply because she’s healthy and can—and because she’s seen firsthand how lifesaving blood transfusions can be for those she cares about. Now, as she steps into the healthcare field after passing her boards, her commitment to helping others continues in a whole new way.

If you’ve ever donated alongside Debby, you probably recognize her custom platelet donation t-shirts. She’s famous among donors and phlebotomists alike for creating shirts that celebrate giving back—like “Someone is Alive Because I Donated Platelets” and “Recycle Yourself, Donate Platelets.”

A dedicated platelet donor and advocate, Debby has thrown her birthday parties at multiple donor centers and even donated at the grand openings of two of them, always bringing enthusiasm—and usually a new timely shirt—with her.

Her impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. At the opening of our Bronx Donor Center, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson recognized Debby’s commitment to donation and advocacy, dedicating her award to Debby and the difference she’s made in the donor community and specifically the Bronx, where Debby hails from.

This Women’s History Month, Debby reminds us how one woman's passion for giving can inspire an entire community to give—and makes sure they look really stylish while doing it! ❤️

New Jersey Blood Services is a division of New York Blood Center. Founded in 1964, the New York Blood Center Network (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its partner organizations Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 45 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD), the Kansas City metropolitan area, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England. NYBC and its partners also provide a wide array of transfusion-related medical services, including Comprehensive Cell Solutions, the National Center for Blood Group Genomics, the National Cord Blood Program, and the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute, which—among other milestones—developed the Hepatitis B vaccine and a patented solvent detergent plasma process innovating blood-purification technology worldwide.
