It has been a busy week at Melissa Memorial Hospital.

On Wednesday, we were honored to welcome Aspen Grady from the office of Lauren Boebert for a visit and conversation about the unique role Critical Access Hospitals play in serving rural communities.

Meetings like this are an important opportunity to share the challenges and successes of rural healthcare. Strong relationships with our state and federal partners help ensure that hospitals like ours can continue providing essential services close to home.

We appreciate Aspen taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about the work being done every day to support the health of our community.

Today we celebrate Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day and recognize Julie Levy for the important work she does at Melissa Memorial Hospital.

Julie provides individualized Diabetes Self Management Education, helping patients learn practical ways to manage their health through nutrition, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, medication management, and reducing the risk of complications. Her guidance helps patients feel more confident and supported as they navigate life with diabetes.

We are grateful for the knowledge, compassion, and dedication Julie brings to our patients and our community every day. Thank you, Julie, for the difference you make.

Melissa Memorial Hospital was honored to participate in Traffic Safety Day at Holyoke High School, helping educate junior and senior students about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Students experienced hands on demonstrations, including driving simulators that showed the effects of impaired and distracted driving. The event also featured a mock crash scenario where first responders demonstrated vehicle extrication using the Jaws of Life, along with an AirLife medical helicopter response.

Events like this give students a powerful, real world look at the consequences of unsafe driving and reinforce the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.

Thank you to the organizers, first responders, and community partners who helped make this important learning experience possible. Together we can help keep our roads and community safe.

Today we celebrated our incredible team during Employee Appreciation. Thank you to every member of the Melissa Memorial Hospital team for the care, dedication, and compassion you bring to our patients and community every day.

We enjoyed a BBQ lunch, a fun round of trivia, and a special treat in the afternoon when our Board President Steve Young stopped by to hand out cookies.

We are grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for all you do.
