Providence Hospice & Palliative Care

Providence Hospice & Palliative Care When facing a terminal diagnosis, you are dealing with more than physical ailments. Our Indiana office is located at:
10700 Park Place
St. John, IN 46373

Providence Hospice knows this, and we’ve put together a team of compassionate, skilled professionals who will walk with you and your family through this journey. Providence Hospice and Palliative Services serves Northwest, Indiana (Lake and Porter Counties), the Chicago Suburbs located in Will, Cook and DuPage Counties. A team of Providence staff (nurses, aides, social workers, chaplain, massage therapy and volunteers) serves our patients during these difficult times with dignity. What makes our team unique is the special sense of calling that informs our work. Their medical qualifications are remarkable, but what sets Providence Hospice and Palliative apart is the personal commitment we have to offer hope and help to others when people need it most.

✝️ Maundy (Holy) Thursday

Tonight, we remember the Last Supper—and the love Christ showed through humility, service, and sacrifice.

“The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread… and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’

In the same way, after supper he took the cup… ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood… do this… in remembrance of me.’”

—1 Corinthians 11:23–25

As we enter the final days of Holy Week, may our hearts be centered on gratitude, reflection, and the promise of hope.

💙 When Might Palliative Care Help?

Palliative care isn’t just for the very end of life—it’s specialized support for anyone with a serious illness, focused on comfort, symptom relief, and quality of life.

Here are 3 key signs it might be time to ask about palliative care:

1️⃣ Difficult-to-manage symptoms
Pain, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, or anxiety that makes daily life harder

2️⃣ Serious or progressive illness
Cancer, heart failure, lung disease, kidney disease, or dementia—even early in the disease course

3️⃣ Frequent hospital visits or complex care needs
Multiple medications, repeated hospitalizations, or complicated treatment plans

Palliative care teams also support emotional, spiritual, and family needs, helping everyone feel more informed, prepared, and supported.

🕊️ Planning Ahead: Advance Care & Conversations

Talking about care wishes in advance can feel difficult, but it’s one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your loved ones—and yourself.

Advance care planning helps ensure that medical decisions reflect your values and priorities, and it gives families guidance and peace of mind during stressful times.

Why it matters:
• Makes your wishes clear to family and healthcare providers
• Helps avoid confusion during serious illness
• Reduces stress for loved ones during difficult decisions
• Allows for more meaningful time together

Providence Hospice & Palliative Care is here to guide you through these discussions with compassion, education, and support—every step of the way. 💙

🌷 Hello, March 🌷

A new month often brings a sense of transition — longer days, signs of spring, and gentle reminders that seasons change.

In hospice care, we are reminded every day that change is a natural part of life. While some seasons feel heavy, they can also be filled with meaningful moments, connection, and reflection.

This March, we encourage you to:

💙 Have a conversation you’ve been putting off
💙 Ask questions about care options
💙 Spend intentional time with someone you love
💙 Give yourself grace if you are grieving

Providence Hospice is here to provide education, comfort, and compassionate support for every season. 800-509-2800.

If you or someone you love would like to learn more about hospice care, we’re here to help.
