🌟Support Our Local 4-H Youth🌟

We are excited to share that 20 outstanding students from Banks County have the opportunity to attend District Project Achievement through Georgia 4-H on March 6-8, 2026 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. This event helps youth build confidence, leadership, and public speaking skills as they represent Banks County at the district level.

The cost to attend is $120 per student, and we are seeking community sponsorships to help make this opportunity possible for every participant. We are $1,613 away from having each competitor sponsored!

All sponsorship payments can be made directly to the Banks County Extension Office.

Due to inclement weather, the Banks County Extension Office will be closed on Monday, January 26th.

During a power outage, keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to maintain safe temperatures. Refrigerated food is generally safe for about 4 hours, while a full freezer can keep food safe for up to 48 hours.

[ Friday morning update ] An Ice Storm Warning is now in effect for parts of northeast Georgia from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, where ice accumulations from 0.25" to 1" are expected. Even just a fraction of an inch of ice has major impacts on roadways and makes travel dangerous! Ice accumulations (while less overall) are also expected across the Winter Storm Watch area and will lead to hazardous travel.

What should you do to protect your family before an ice storm hits? Have 3 days of non-perishable (Shelf stable) food and water for each member of your household (including pets). Have flashlights and extra batteries, a first aid kit at least 7 days of your medications. You may choose to withdraw some extra cash. Ice can do things like down power lines and make travel via road very dangerous.
