Please join us for another set of exciting garden programs as part of our HOMERgrown series!

This Thursday, April 23rd, at 6 pm we will have Josh Grant from Barrow County Extension teach us about how to manage insects in the garden. We will discuss Joro spiders, whiteflies, stink bugs, white grubs and much more.

May 28th at 6 pm Joshua Lyon, our very own Banks County Extension Agent, will be leading a class on composting. In this class we will learn how to keep composting simple and consistent so that we can turn our kitchen waste into garden gold!

These programs will take place at the Banks County Extension Office located at 413 Evans Street in Homer, Georgia. Please register by calling or emailing Joshua Lyon at (706)977-6230 or Joshua.lyon@uga.edu.

Tomorrow is the kickoff for $4 for 4-H! Help us turn Banks County green by donating to our 4-H organization. Every dollar raised helps us make the best better by offering many growth opportunities to youth in Banks County! This year, we will celebrate $4 for 4-H with a new four-day format, so that means you will have FOUR days to help us reach our goal!

Our fundraising goal for Banks County this year is $2,500! If we reach our goal, our students will get to slime our Extension Staff.
Here’s the lineup:
🍀At $444, our CEC and FACS Agent Ms. Susie gets slimed!
🍀At $1,000, our 4-H Educator Ms. Madison gets slimed!
🍀At $1,800, our ANR Agent Mr. Joshua gets slimed!
🍀At $2,500, our 4-H Agent Ms. Macy gets slimed!

All donations can be made at www.georgia4h.org/four beginning at midnight tonight! The link will be live Wednesday, April 1st – Saturday, April 4th! When donating, be sure to select “Banks” so our county receives credit. If we hit our goal, our extension staff will be slimed at the 4-H End-of-Year Party in May! We are officially SIX DAYS away from $4 for 4-H!!

Georgia 4-H is changing things up this year, so set a reminder to join us next week on April 1, 2, 3, and 4 for FOUR special days of online giving to support Banks County 4-H! You guys helped us exceed our goal last year, so let's see if we can reach our $2,500 goal this year so students can see Ms. Susie, Ms. Madison, Mr. Joshua, and Ms. Macy get SLIMED! The link will only be live April 1-4. Mark your calendars and help us reach our goal! 🍀
