Fascia Flow Functional Movement

Fascia Flow Functional Movement "May we all live with peace, comfort and balance. My goals in life and 'work' have become one and the same!" Mindfulness is the key. at the Yurt.

Fascia Flow Yoga is a work in progress that was born from my fascination with fascia, the most sensory rich organ of the body. I am now combining what I have learned from practicing and teaching yoga, with my lifetime of study and work with bodies in my massage and myofascial practice, into a gentle, healing, movement practice accessible to every body. Based on ongoing research of fascia, we are following a few basic principles to guide our movement practice to become fascia fit. The goal is overall body/mind comfort and ease. that is gentle in nature and focuses on building awareness of the biggest sensory organ of the body. Some benefits of this approach include:

Promotes hydration Improve stability
Breaks up adhesions from over use and repetitive movement patterns
Builds overall resiliency, less chance of injury in sports etc. Learn how to move in such a way to reduce and avoid inflammation. Build elasticity

As those of you in class have noticed I am trying to integrate static isometric exercises into class.
This is one of the many articles I have read about WHY this is beneficial.

A new analysis of 270 studies investigated the benefits of various forms of exercise in lowering blood pressure and found that static isometric exercises, such as wall sits, are the most effective.

So fun to introduce ELDOA (Longitudinal osteo-articular decompression of the spine) in classes and with clients. Thank you to my steadfast students and clients that are hanging in there and trying the cutting edge of fascial 'technology' for postural positive exercise!

I am in Manchester by the Sea, outside of Boston, at a real live Fascia Fitness training! Very new. Well the good news is: we are on the right track! Tomorrow we take toys to the park and play so I think this will bode well with Alaskans! I will take some pictures of the fun that is yet to come.
Thank you all for hanging (which is highly recommended by the way) in there.

Thank you friends and Yogis for the great excuse to go to Petersen Bay and retreat at Alaskan Coastal Studies this last weekend! Tide pooling, berry picking and awesome meals, oh yeah and our mindfulness movement practice which ended up largely outdoors! Perfect!

Thank you to Alayne Tetor for posting the article below.
I am happy with the direction of my Fascia Flow Yoga classes!
If we are really practicing self-inquiry...inviting ease, pain free mobility and resilience works for me! Avoiding injury (especially in a yoga class!) is way easier than recovering from injury.

The circular argument that MacGregor transparently makes is so hard to understand, it seems to validate the adage that yoga cannot be conceptualized. Pain is described as a necessary spiritual tool...
