Vulcan Speech Group Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology Services We are licensed speech-language pathologists working in a private practice in Birmingham, AL.

We evaluate and treat children (and some adults) who have difficulty communicating and/or eating. That means we can work with patients in a variety of areas including:

• Articulation-the way we use the sounds in words
• Phonology- patterns of speech-sound development
• Apraxia- motor planning difficulties when producing speech
• Fluency- stuttering
• Voice- hoarseness, breathiness, nasality issues, etc.
• Receptive language- what people understand of the language they hear
• Expressive language- using language to communicate effectively
• Pragmatic language- social communication
• Oral-motor- muscle coordination of the facial muscles required for speech
• Swallowing/feeding disorders- trouble with the muscle strength/coordination to chew and swallow or sensory aversions to foods/diet progression

Children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and a variety of other diagnoses have a higher risk of having delays in many of these areas. 🎉 Celebrating 10 Years!! 🎉This month, Vulcan Speech Group (formerly Lane B SLP) proudly marks a decade of dedicated service to the children of Birmingham!

Over the last 10 years, we’ve:
📍 Outgrown 2 offices
🏫 Partnered with 6 preschools for speech and language screenings
👩🏻‍💻 Added teletherapy services
🐴 Hosted 6 social skills camps at The Red Barn
🧒🏿👧🏻👦🏽Helped over 850 patients meet their therapy goals

To celebrate this milestone, we are excited to announce the VSG Birthday Book Drive! 📚 Books are a vital tool in our therapy sessions, helping us target:
✔️Early language skills
✔️Articulation development
✔️Literacy skills and phonemic awareness
✔️Vocabulary and sentence expansion
✔️Advanced language skills like inferencing
✔️And so much more!

To celebrate, we’re partnering with local non-profits to share the gift of language with children in the greater Birmingham area. You can help by donating new and gently used books at our office throughout March. Thank you for helping us celebrate!!

2025 was a year of growth at Vulcan Speech Group. With the addition of Catherine, Emily, Jessica, and Claire, our team doubled in size! As we close out the year, I want to sincerely thank these incredible women. They have brought professionalism, organization, and genuine joy to our office every day.
