Dr. Prather sporting her new T-Shirt -- COVID Vaccine... ! For information on COVID19, the vaccine, travel restrictions, or vaccine sign ups, go to our webpage at www.cacholamedical.com and click on The COVID19 Resources tab.

Remember, any vaccine is the same in function. It helps you combat the disease if you get it, so you hopefully don't get the worst of it. Like when you get your flu shot, you can still get the flu if exposed later, but hopefully the symptoms don't knock you out of commission. Same with COVID19's vaccines. Because only a small part of the population is protected at this time, you STILL have to maintain distance, mask up, practice good hygiene, and do the things you need to do to decrease your risk of exposure , and your risk of passing it to others who are not yet protected or who's immune systems are weak and can't adequately fight the infection.

ESSENTIAL WORKERS -- include education , transportation, utilities, food and agriculture -- HPH and DOH are going to do kupuna first. DOH has not gotten lists from employers yet on who on their staff want to get a vaccine so the essential worker part is behind a bit. (Lame. Like why can't you just show an ID and day hey I'm a teacher etc, I'd like my vaccine please.) BUT Queens will be administering to essential workers starting 1.28.21, at the blaisdell. I have not heard word yet on how the appointment process will go, but as soon as I know, I will update you !

In the meantime, if you are an essential worker and want to get vaccinated, make sure you let your DOH liaison at your company know so they can put you on the list.

Being healthy is not just about physical health. Stress, anger, frustration, hurt and all the other negative emotions can be as dangerous to your health as diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer and heart disease. There's a reason they say laughter is the best medicine. But how do you create mental happiness, especially during the hardest times?

Mental happiness starts with 2 simple habits:
1. Gratitude. 2. Attitude.

Gratefulness and positivity are skills that sometimes take concerted effort to develop.
If you put in the work, you'll not only create room for happiness to grow, you'll develop one of the most important traits needed to make it through even the most challenging times -- RESILIANCE.

When you're struggling through tough times and adversity, it's often easier to focus on the things that are going wrong. This can blind you to all the good things going on around you. It doesn't have to be something big. Sometimes the smallest things are the most memorable. Start with finding three different and new things that you are grateful for everyday and write them down. Look back at that list at the end of every week. Keep doing this daily, even if it feels unnatural. Pretty soon, it'll become habit, and you won't even have to try. Good things will find their way into your psyche, because your subconscious will have learned to seek out things that bring you joy.
