Congratulations Elvira Lo on being named a 2026 Women Who Mean Business honoree by Pacific Business News (PBN)! Each year, PBN recognizes outstanding women across Hawai‘i who exemplify excellence in leadership while making a meaningful impact in their communities. The 2026 Women Who Mean honorees will be celebrated at a gala the evening of March 12, and also featured in a special section of PBN following the event.

We are incredibly proud of Elvira for this well-deserved recognition. She is a true trailblazer, turning her tremendous business acumen into a force multiplier for social good. Her tireless work at the helm of Palolo Chinese Home’s Board of Directors has further enabled the Home to provide care excellence for our kūpuna in the face of rising costs and evolving needs.

“The secret? Good food and lots of vegetables!” 🥦✨

Meet the incredible Ms. Ellen Goo, a regular at our Senior Day Care who celebrated her 106th birthday last month! From celebrating at our Lunar New Year festival to enjoying cake with her family and her daughter, Stephanie, Ellen reminds us all that age is just a number when you have a joyful heart (and a healthy appetite!).

Happy Birthday, Ellen! Thank you for brightening our Home with your legacy and your smile. 🎊

A little rain couldn’t stop the community from coming together for a day of culture and connection as we welcomed the Year of the Fire Horse and the start of Palolo Chinese Home’s 130th Anniversary! On February 21, “A Festival of Good Fortune & Community” kicked off at the Home’s campus with firecrackers and a performance by the Gee Yung Martial Arts Dragon & Lion Dance Sports Association. Beyond the bustle of Farm Hall, the festivities extended into a tented courtyard filled with local vendor booths and information tables hosted by community health care partners.

Among the day’s most heartfelt moments was a special tribute to the late Peter Fong with his family in attendance, followed by an unveiling of the Legacy Society Plaque, recognizing PCH Endowment Donors whose generosity continues to strengthen the Home’s mission and ensure our future. Glowing tea lights were also passed out for all guests to hold during a serene blessing that set positive intentions for the year ahead.

At every turn throughout the event, there was a warm smile, a kind gesture, a fond remembrance, and a promise kept for better care, better lives. Mahalo nui loa to our dedicated supporters, donors, Board of Directors, community partners, residents, and their families for being part of this special celebration and for the trust you place in us every day. We look forward to a year filled with good health, prosperity, and happiness. Kung Hei Fat Choi! 恭喜发财新年快乐🧧
