Before a Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels order reaches a kupuna’s door, a full team gets to work.

From early morning prep to careful packing and delivery, every step supports nutrition, safety, and connection for kupuna across the island.

“No one left out.” 💛

That message, shared on advocacy plates at the State Capitol, reflected what brought us together for March for Meals: supporting nutrition and connection for kupuna and people with disabilities in our community.

As we recognize Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a nationwide effort to build understanding and celebrate the contributions of people with developmental disabilities, we are reminded that progress starts with listening, showing up, and making sure every voice is heard.

Mahalo to everyone who stood with us and advocated alongside us. Let’s keep moving Hawaiʻi forward, together. 🌺

Last month, Lanakila Pacific leadership was honored to welcome a delegation from SourceAmerica to Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam.

The visiting team, Wes Tyler, chief operating officer, Victoria Fields, account services, and Rick Terrazas, vice president of government affairs, joined us for a closer look at our social enterprises operating through the AbilityOne Program.

The day included a tour of our grounds maintenance services and operations at the Hickam Hale Aina Dining Facility. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our partnership and share our commitment to inclusive employment and meaningful community connection.

Our community came together at the State Capitol for March for Meals to shine a light on the vital role meal programs play in supporting kupuna across Hawaii.

Mahalo to the advocates, partners and community members who showed up and spoke up for programs that help older adults access nutritious meals, connection and care.

After 15 years at Hale Aina Dining Facility, Ashley Parras felt ready for something new.

With support from Lanakila Pacific Employment Services, she started last fall as a dishwasher at Chao restaurant. She brough her experience, then took on a new routine, new team, and new goals.
